Music is increasingly disappearing from the curriculum in schools. It is therefore our privilege to be working with Burnham Market Primary School. Our workshop aims to include as many young people as possible, either as singers or making props and being stewards on the night of the performance.
“The opportunities provided to our young people by Music in Burnhams are unique and hugely valuable. Not only do they give pupils the opportunity to engage with and learn from world class musicians, but the workshops and performances also give them the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience in the wonderful setting of All Saints Church. Such opportunities for a rural community such as ours are so limited, with the pupils gaining confidence and new skills as well as developing their musical talents, understanding and creativity. The workshops and performances are also hugely enjoyable for them and their families love coming to watch!’
Schools have also explained the importance of not charging for these creative, enjoyable and memorable experiences.”
In 2025 we are delighted to be also working with Norwich School. The professional string quartet The Victoria and international clarinetist John Bradbury are taking a one-day workshop at the school.
Young people from all the music departments at the school will work with the professionals in learning new skills and techniques to improve their playing and understanding of their instruments. The school string quartet is also rehearsing the famous Mendelssohn String Quintet with The Victoria for a performance at the school with a public performance in Burnham Market on Saturday 10th May.
This is a unique experience for the young people.
